Housing Market Discrimination and Fair Housing

Description

Enforcing fair housing policies requires substantial effort on the part of federal, state, and local agencies, but in many circumstances also places distinct burdens on housing providers and consumers. In this session, we’ll examine some of the frameworks for fair housing enforcement, as well as some of the barriers to the effective implementation of these strategies.

  • Understand the federal, state, and local infrastructure for monitoring and enforcing fair housing laws and rules.
  • Understand the legal tests used to substantiate allegations of fair housing violations.
  • Understand how advocates test for fair housing violations.
  • Articulate and envision what future fair housing rules and rule making may entail.
